• Promote, promote, and promote: Quality content does no good unless it can reach the masses. So promote your blog both online and offline, through social media platforms, emails, social bookmarking websites etc.
• Use tags: Using tags with specific keywords makes it easier for search engines to find and catalogue your blog. Use pertinent keywords and you will soon see a spike in traffic.
• Research: Visit other blogs that are similar in topic and content. Find out what the popular ones are talking about. You can write on similar topics and link back to those blogs.
• Submit articles: Article directories are great places to gain some readers. Submit articles you have written and then link back to the original blog entries.
• Merge URL with your identity: The URL of your blog should be as ubiquitous as your telephone number. Make it a part of your email signature, print it on your business card, in short do whatever you have to do to ensure that anyone who knows you also knows of your blog.
• Newsletter link: If you have a newsletter, especially a digital newsletter, make sure the articles link back to your blog. Just give the heading and one or two interesting points in the body of the newsletter itself and then post the link.
• Don’t forget RSS: RSS allows regular readers to get live updates and feeds whenever you post a new entry in your blog. Use one of the many tools available online to create an RSS feed that your readers can subscribe to.
• Post regularly: Finally, nothing hooks the readers like a blog that is regularly updated. Remember, once someone likes what you write, he or she will check on you regularly for new content. Disappoint them one too many times and you will lose them all.
